What's the "32 GB Clip" setting on Samsung HD jumpers?

I have an OEM "drive only" Samsung Spinpoint P80 hard drive (160GB IDE, model SD1614N) on the way here in a Fedex truck. So today I went to Samsung's website, and after much digging and many dead ends, finally turned up a brief, one page PDF manual for the drive.

However, I've been slightly confused by one aspect of the various jumper settings presented in this PDF. It says "In case drive capacity is 32GB or more, please refer to bellow diagram." (sic) Below that there are two sets of settings, one entitled "General Pin Setting" and one entitled "32 GB Clip Pin Setting".

I've never heard of "32 GB Clip" ... what is it? It almost sounds like an option for someone who wants to limit their system to only utilizing 32GB of the available space, is that right? But it's hard for me to believe that's right, because why would someone buy a 160GB drive if they could only use 32GB?

Anyway, for compatibility with my brand new MSI K8N Neo Platinum MB, I'm assuming that I need to use one of the ">32GB, General" pin settings, would that be correct?

Sorry for the newbie questions - I'm still kind of a neophyte at hardware installations (beyond PCI/AGP cards, at least). I've installed exactly one hard drive in my life before this one, so I'm still rather nervous about the procedure.

You shouldn't have to worry about that. All you have to worry about is setting the jumper for master, slave or cable select. The diagram for that should be on your hard drive.

Well, that's kind of the problem, you see ... according to the PDF data sheet for the drive, the jumper settings for master/slave/cable select are completely different if you are using "32 GB Clip" mode than if you are using "General" mode. I'm guessing that "General" mode is what I need, but that's why I asked ... because I don't know what "32 GB Clip" mode is, and hence don't know for sure that I don't need to use it.

That's pretty much what I thought. Thanks for verifying it. I'll use the "General" settings.
