Attached to the inside front of the SX1030B is a vertical plastic piece with 6 squares. What is it for?

Thanks

Not the flat plastic attachments that come glued to the floor of the case.
I'm referring to the purple plastic frame that's attached directly to the inside front face down low.

I was wondering the same thing. I've got an sx830 with the same thing. I was thinking that it was a wire loom??? Farfetched but I couldn't figure out any other reason for it.

It's a holder incase you have really long PCI cards. I had the same thing in my SX830, I just removed it.

I got my 1030 today and saw those also. Instruction book says it is a card holder. My guess is that they are for helping support full length pci cards (notice how each hole is directly across from the card slots.

It's a card holder. After you service the machine you right down what you have done, roll up the paper and stick it in the little squares. That way the next guy who does service on the machine knows it's history. ha ha.

BCool,
I think you're right. I personally haven't seen a pci card that long, but they do seem to line up. However, my friend has a new voodoo? AGP card which in his sx1030 runs right into the lower harddrive box. The card tucks precariously between his 2 hdds which are held even farther from the front of the box due to the built-in fan holder. It's not a problem for me with my short video card but otherwise it's a problem with the design of that case. If you want to use a floppy drive (I would like to replace with my cd burner) you must use the middle bay box location because of the 3.5" metal frames cut into the case front. Result, you can't switch those 2 3.5" metal boxes and move your hard drives with cooling fan up out of the way of that long video card.
I personally love the case. I have one myself, but my friend will just have to be content with removing his vid to fiddle with his hard drives.
