what's that funky 'take control of your dreams' stuff called?

I remember one of my mates at boarding school was well into it, kept dream diaries to help him see what were his common dreams and he reckoned that he got the hang of it by the end of the year...

i can do that with some dreams, take control of them that is. not sure what it's called though.

I can do that, to an extent. I can control my dreams, but not in the way that I'd like to. I mean, I can walk around and go places, but those places are never strip-clubs or the playboy mansion. I have limited control.

It's called Lucid Dreaming.. a lot of people say taking melatonin before rest helps this along.
