ive seen people get 3000mhz on air, but thats really unlikely. i would say around 2.7-8 is what you should shoot for.

there's a max written on it saying 3.0ghz in 3dmark05, i've clocked it to 3.0(running it at 2.8 cause it messes up my timings hella bad for 200mhz) but never past that
i know my ram limits it, but is the limit @3ghz even if i get ultra fast ram?

besides the cpu is running at 42C prime95 with AS5 and stock heatsink with 1.45v, clearly it can go faster, but there's a 3ghz max written for 3700+ in 3dmark, wonder what it is for 4000+ if any1 owns one, cause i'm looking at the temps and hoping the max isnt 3.0, i dun have any extra ram on me to test it

you are only limited by cooling.

ram can't limit your overclock because you have mem dividers.

2.8 with 1.45 is pretty darn good.

3.0 might be possible with air but definitely will need something more to get into the 3.1+ range.

Well my SD sucks

It can't go any higher. Look at my sig. If anyone has any advice on getting it to clock higher let me know. I am using an XP-120 and already tried giving it max volts and running the memory at 1/2 divider.

might be ur mobo, get dfi to get a clear look at everything, cant go wrong, something is wrong, u ram and psu is even better than mine
i think ur mobo is also wasting the timing on the ram, 238 @ 2-3-3-8 on rev 2 is kinda slow, (i have my cheap 2*1gb plat running at 234 bus @ 2.5-3-3-6, rev 2 has got to do betta than 2-3-3-8 @ 4 mhz higher)
check the voltage, evp @ 2.9, so do 2.8 on a dfi LP mobo with +.03 enable to get it to run at 2.88
check everything else first tho, i really think it's the mobo

I think its the mobo too becuase I tried alot of different mem timings and voltages but still no luck, but I can'really be sure without testing with another mobo. It could also be that I got a not so good overclocking CPU.

even without all the bio tweaking, i was able to find a guy that was to clock a SD to 3.3 on air stable, 2.6 seems too low

no San Diego does 3.3 Ghz stable on air, that's just retarded. 2.6 Ghz isn't too low, some are just bad overclockers.
The best i've seen is 3.3 Ghz stable, but it was a good single stage phase change kit with a really nice 0515SPMW 3700+ (Bachus_Anonym's).

it's one of those reviews i found after making this post during a google search, the guy had some expansive cooling kit with a 600w psu, didnt bother to copy down the site tho
aint me, furthest i was able to get to on stock cooling was 3.03 on air (@55load 1.55v), im staying at 2.8 cause i didnt want to mess up my timings.
