In addition to those already mentioned, James Gang, Uriah Heep, Aerosmith. Can't believe no one mentioned Aerosmith - their early albums were awesome and way better than anything they've put out since.

Edit: Oh yeah, and the ROLLING STONES! Also, like Aerosmith, the early years are the best.

And don't forget Ted Nugent, a must have for any 70's collection.
