The only phone I know of that works with Flash is the N900, and Flash brings it to it's buggy knees... The N900 is more computer than phone, and it's a half finished offering from Nokia."Our goal (was to make) a billion phones Flash-enabled by 2010," Lynch said. "We're actually going to get 1 billion Flash-enabled phones by 2009."
Because Adobe is lazy and won't optimize it for the platform as a plug in.

Weve decided to disable plugin (not to be confused with add-ons, which are supported) support for this release. The Adobe Flash plugin used on many sites degraded the performance of the browser to the point where it didnt meet our standards.
Huh, speaking of HTML5, I just signed on for the Beta in YouTube, it's pretty good, watching in FS 720p using Chrome...

Apple has no problem with developers having web apps. In fact that's how they wanted developers to develop at first. Building apps that actually use the hardware efficiently is what Apple wants.
Apple locks down the app store to control what can be run on the iPhone. If you allow Flash, developers can just develop Flash versions of their app which completely bypasses the app store. That's my conspiracy theory at least.
I would say they don't mind people building lousy crippled web apps. But flash would allow them to build web apps which rival the apps in the app store.

Would you want an app that is specifically designed to run on iPhone OS or an app that runs in flash?
