Well, Xmas is about to roll around and I'm wondering what I want to upgrade next- My system:

AMD XP1800+
Gigabyte GA-7DX
Crucial 512mb 2100 DDr
MSI Geforce 2 Ultra 64 mb DDr
Onboard Sound
2 40 gb WD 7200 UDMA 100 drives
Afreey 10X DVD
Liteon 24X10X40 CD-RW
21" CTX Monitor
I'm tempted to go with a more overclockable MB, but have to admit I like the stability of the current setup. What would you "upgrade" and why. I'm not a real hot and heavy Gamer, so I really don't think I need a better Video card- but would be interested in what you all have to say

I'd recommending getting a nice sound card and not using the onboard sound. I hear it can really make a difference in games (no pun intended). what kind of sound system do you have?

I think the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz is nice cheap way to high quality sound.

Ordinarily, I'd agree with you, but the on board sound for the GA-7DX is the SB 128. Not bad for general usage, and pretty good for a old flight line mechanic with 20 years of working on turbine engines ("Whatja Say?" is my favorite expression)

yeah, the 128 is pretty good. if you don't have super great speakers, you'd never tell the difference even if you had all your hearing. 😉
