What's next? Building a system around MSI K7T Pro2A.

I need some advice on completing a system around the following: Enlight EN7237 case. What Power supply should I get?
MSI K7T Pro2A.
AMD T-Bird 1Ghz. Should I get a retail version with HSF installed?
2 PC133 memory chips. What brand is best?
Plextor 12/10/32A. I will take this out of my current system.
Win 98SE

I have researched my selection so far, and come to the conclusion this would be a solid foundation for my use. I have no immediate plans on overclocking, but want that option available.
I would like to have some recommendations on what to finish out with:
- Hard Drive. No plans for RAID.
- Sound card.
- Video Card.
- 56k Modem. Only other option in my area is satellite.

I am requiring more satability that speed. My family will use this system for general purposes, not setting records in benchmark tests.
Thanks for any recommendations on this request.

How's it goin'? 🙂 I am building a Thunderbird 1000 Retail boxed system based around that motherboard, as well. It's a friend of a friend for where I work. I'm not even charging, but I'll recommend I take it "home to test it out" for a bit 😉

He already has an ATX case. Since it looks like you do as well, I'd recommend an Antec 300W from ATACOM.com, the place I purchased everything for this system.

Yes, I'd recommend Retail Processor. For the RAM, go to Mushkin.com and buy the PC133 "Athlon tested" 1 DIMM 256. You probably will need the other slots later on. For HDD, look at the 45GB IBM 75GXP. Yes, the 30GB is only about $30 cheaper! So you'll probably want the 45. Sound card get the SB Live! 5.1 MP3+ board, or just Value 5.1. For Video, I saw the GeForce2 MX by ASUS there, with S-Video and TV out for about $125 I believe. If you're looking for more maybe look at the GeForce2GTS or an ATI Radeon 32MB DDR OEM (great 2D AND 3D board in one. Beats the MX in performace in Q3 actually!)

If you have any other questions feel free to PM, ICQ, email, or respond here. I'll be building this system in about 5 days, I'll let you know if I find any problems/tricks with the MSI board.

I'd go with:
-300W PS
-retail proc because of the warranty
-generic ram or crucial if you dont mind paying extra
-IBM or Maxtor 40gb or greater, ATA100, 7.2K rpm
-SB Live Value
-All-In-Wonder Radeon 32MB, good gaming, awesome Multimedia
-a Hardware PCI modem

I have a MSI K7T Pro2a board, I used the Kingmax 'TinyBGA" ram from Mwave. I also have a Live X-Gamer and a Creative GTS card (My friend has the same config with a GeForce2mx and its fine). I do have raid and that is where my only pronlem came in, I needed to upgrade the BIOS on the RAID card. But you won't have to worry about that.

As far as hard drives go, I would look at the Maxtor, or make sure to get the RETAIL box IBM drives. IBM has a problem with honering the warranty on the OEM parts. And I have sen more than a fair share of the durn things fail...

Both my and my friend systems are the most stable and fastest we have owned... Both of us came from the BE6-II's with Celerons @900MHz, it was nice but the K7TPro2a is nicer!!
