What's new in Mac OS 10.9.3 beta?

Even the betas should have a "what's new in this release" section.

Why would someone install something just because it's there?

Because you're a developer and you want to know if the next release is going to work with your app.

Because you're a nerd and you want to always be running the latest and greatest.

Because it's there, and you can.

I'm an iOS developer and those betas come with release notes.
All other system updates have release notes.
Everything else you get from the App Store has release notes.

What incentive does anyone have for participating if there are no new features and increased risk of crashing?

Let he who has not reinstalled his OS for fun cast the first stone. :\

I reinstall my OS once every few years. That's an enormous amount of work.

Am I really the crazy one here? I can't name a single other thing I've installed recently that didn't come with release notes.

The Mac OS beta page tells you to backup your data beforehand because there's a chance you could lose everything, but it doesn't tell you why you would want to risk that.

Doctor: "Side effects of this medication include headaches, stomach pain, nasal congestion, nausea, diarrhea, and loss of hearing."
Patient: "But it'll make me all better, right?"
Doctor: "I don't feel like telling you that."

You're not crazy, you're just not the sort of tech enthusiast you maybe thought you were?

My previous post included a sort of "release notes". Whether those "release notes" are directly from Apple or paraphrased by some other 3rd-party source: don't know.
However, that should be enough of a description to allow making an adequately informed decision. Since 10.9.3 is still a "work in progress", the release notes aren't going to be all that detailed yet, anyway.

Incrementing a number on the screen isn't tech.

Every release should have a changelog, whether beta or not.

But I guess they censor the releases for non-tech people who don't have developer accounts.

Where are you not seeing release notes? On the Appleseed site, or did you go through the steps? The beta is delivered through the App Store, and perhaps the notes are there.

Still haven't answered why it's 'fishy' for them to be missing.

I'm not seeing them, so that would be everywhere I'm not seeing them.

Nothing in the App Store.
Nothing on the website.
Nothing in the installation.

Still haven't answered why it's 'fishy' for them to be missing.

Because literally everything else you get from Apple does have release notes. I'm guessing it's so non-tech people aren't confused by frequent changes in the content.
