What's my vcore voltage?

Title says it all... I get a different reading for my vcore from the BIOS, RightMark, CPU-Z, and the abit uGuru software. Obviously, some of them are wrong, but is any one of them right?

I'm pretty sure CPU-Z is usually dead-accurate, but I'm not 100% sure or anything.

For me, Speedfan and Everest give the most accurate reading.

Thanks for the replies.

Odd that software would be more accurate than the motherboard BIOS, considering that the motherboard is actually regulating the voltage going to the cpu. Is the software getting the vcore directly from the cpu itself?

btw... how would one determine which is the most accurate? Is the reported vcore a "reading" like temperature, or is it more of a "setting" like FSB clocks? I understand that there would be a discrepancy between the two, since (to use an analogy) even if you set the oven to bake at 375, that doesn't mean your cake is 375F when it's done.

wrong...

cpu-z has a wierd bug when you push the vcore in bios higher then 1.45V.

The MOST accurate and basically ONLY way unless you have an ASUS board with PC Probe II, is going into BIOS, and then under PC Health, and seeing what your cpu voltage is reading.

Speedfan WONT work on getting Vcore voltage, because of Vdroop. Its something that is on ALL LGA775 boards. Each vdroop is diffferent for each board, and i believe ASUS is the only company that has a booster to compensate for Vdroop. On my board it works fairly well to reduce the Vdroop by .04 at most. :D

RightMark and PC Probe 2 are the only ones i trust the rest are not accurate

on my board I trust my bios, uGuru usually shows a .03-.04 vdroop which seems to make sense, speedfan and cpu-z show 1.09-1.1, and coretemp shows 1.35 (stock vcore).

uGuru on the Abit Ip35 is the only application that will give accurate readings. It's quite good...accounts for droop at load too.

Yea, until the other apps are updated for the P35 chipset at least.

well uguruu is like Asus Probe II for asus boards.

And asus probe II is fairly accurate.

right, but coretemp crashes under vista x64 and speedfan shows temps but no voltage(incorrect reading). Same for everest.

Coretemp 0.95 runs fine for me under Vista x64. Speedfan also shows a vcore reading. Not sure what's wrong with your machine...

I'm not sure which ones are accurate, though. CPU-Z says 1.376v, CoreTemp shows 1.35v (though it read VID), Speedfan shows 1.38v, and Gigabyte's EasyTune5 says 1.39v. This is good and all... but I set 1.4125 in the bios.

Nothing wrong.... Speedfan says I'm running 1.5v and I'm not. CPUZ says 1.21 and I'm running 1.42 (actual after droop).

Just because it doesn't work you assume something is wrong?

And NO I refuse to turn off driver signature enforcement just to get a CPU temp reading, they should just make it work without having to do that.

Yeah, but to me it's not worth it.

The BIOS options for voltage go way past what you'd normally set under every day usage anyway. So what if I have to set 1.465 to get 1.42?

Exactly. I use C1E and EIST. So technically, I could bump Vcore up to 1.5 with 3.6GHz core speed and the CPU would still run cool n quiet 99% of the time.

how do you get 1.465? mine only goes in increments of .01

what bios revision are you running? They released a new one today (I had been using it in beta for a while). I never used the shipping BIOS.

sweet! I originally used the shipping 10 bios but I downloade the beta bios a few days ago.

weird, mine is also in .01 v increments but starts at 1.35. did you mean that abit release a new bios today or there is another beta bios? I'm using beta 3 but I heard about a beta 4 earlier today.

there was a beta 04 but today there is an official release (8/3/07) here http://file.abit.com.tw/pub/do...os/ip35pro/m629b11.zip

None of the BIOS should limit you. You can set up to around 1.7 or something rediculous. I forget the actual number.

ok, running good in new bios. only diff that I noticed so far is option to save bios setting. I was already using beta 3 so I could change to 3-3-3 or 1t if desired. I am running ram at 1088 right now, however, so those seem a little far off right now.

I remember reading that you would be able to change the strap with the beta bios. Where do I go to do that? I noticed in memset that "perf level" is 8 at 1:1, it's 7 at 1:1.2 and 6 at 1:1.25. Is perf level the same thing as strap? Is there a way to manually modify the strap while still keeping mem at 1:1 or at a specific multiplier?
