What's my next CPU going to be? You decide.

I'm currently running an 1800+ with an 8RDA+, two sticks of 256MB PC2100, and a 9700 Pro. I'm going to buy a new processor before the end of the year and need some help deciding which to choose. I plan on keeping the 8RDA+.

What do you guys think? I'm leaning towards the 2500+...

You may want to wait a while till the barton core has a revision... some people have had fairly good success overclocking their XP2500, I however, have had no success... increasing the multiplier from 11 to 11.5 makes my system unstable.

Why not wait until the end of the year then? The new opterons are probably due between then and
next year. With their new release and intel's new line of cpus, the price of athlonxps will probably be
replaced by bartons. If you're not in a hurry then just wait it out...

I just bought myself a 2400+ because all the upper multipliers are unlocked. I probably won't overclock it though, that was the whole point of upgrading from my o/c'ed 1700+, temperatures at the higher speeds, so I don't know how well it overclocks, but it wouldn't hurt to try, and the 2500+ seems overpriced to me. Generally there is a barrier between the really expensive chips and the less expensive ones, and the 2400+ just passed under that to ~$100.
