What's my bottleneck?

I'm using a rig that's 3 or 4 years old and trying to play newer games such as starcraft II beta and supreme commander II. I'm trying to figure out what I want to upgrade first or if I need to do a multi-part upgrade. I don't have the $$ at the moment to build an entirely new system.

My specs -
2 GB RAM
4200+ x2 AMD processor 939
Nvidia 7800 GT
Asus a8n-e motherboard

forget about it. atleast supreme commander if i remember correctly requires both cpu/gpu power. starcraft 2 might be more forgiving with just cpu taking the hit. you can get cpu/mb combo for 99-150 that thrash your system, piece by piece upgrade of your system is not really workable, very low return on the dollar.

Since his board is PCIe, I think he can at least do CPU/MB/RAM and the GPU.

OP,
Get a Propus 620 + 785G MB combo deal along with 4GB of RAM first. The IGP may very well be faster than your 7800GT, so test both. Then upgrade the GPU to whatever is good at the time.

0roo0roo is right about you not being able to play SupCom2 without both though.

Pretty much everything in that system is the bottleneck (or in other words, its actually pretty well balanced.)

You'll probably want to go with a new system all together. Phenom 2 based systems are pretty cheap and will provide a good speed boost, as well, a new video card, such as the 5770, would do wonders for your game play. More ram couldn't hurt either (and it is pretty cheap).
