I need a tivo (or tivo like option) for 3 months.

tivo requires a 1-yr commitment. Its for Dish network (so needs to be compatible for that).

any ideas?

so I just plug in the TiVo to the tv, and the dish output to TiVo? no service, no hassle? or do I still need to get the service?

Yes you still need to pay $12.95/mo for the service.

I'm considering DircTivo at the moment a (I have DirecTV, any deals going on RossMAN??).
My buddy has the dish network default DVR and he loves it (I'm not familiar with the brand/model, etc...)

hey, you got any more details on this? there are some going for about 125 on ebay. But, I thought you still have to pay the monthly fee.

Dishnetwork PVR. I got one a while back. I didn't know there was a monthly fee for those though. I've never paid anything extra for mine.

yeah, thats what it seems like with the 508. Whats the deal with the Yellow Card or SmartCard? One of the ebay listings is selling it for without one, says I can buy one from Dish Network itself for 25 bucks.. how does this thing work?

(as you can see... I dont see Dish, I watch simple time warner digital cable. but i need to get it so my mom can watch her internatinal channels on dish later on the DLP tv without bothering me during my HD football or shows)
