Is MS IIS considered application server? Would it run C# servlets or whatever ms alternative is?

Well, as I understand asp/asp.net is the technology. What's the actual software that runs the asp.net application?

I have .net installed through Visual Studio .NET. I don't think that comes with IIS, at least not the pro version :(

The ASP or ASP.NET framework, which run ontop of IIS.

Every version of 2k/Xp (except maybe home?) comes with some version of IIS.

I know that 2k server comes with IIS, workstation doesn't. I don't know about XP though, I'll have to check out my install cd.

XP comes with IIS installed by default which I do not care for. Win2K workstation has IIS you just have to manually install it.......

It's called personal web server in workstation, you can install it from add/remove programs. It's still IIS (just with certain limits on it).
