What's More Important?

I present this "hypothetical" situation.

You're in a job that you like. The pay is decent enough to pay the rent on a half-decent 1 bedroom apartment + bills and still leave enough left over for you to have the occasional night out. Savings are minimal, and big-ticket items (ie: new car, extravegant vacation) would reduce you to eating ramen and white rice for a few years.

You can take a promotion to a different department within the same company that would pay much better (50% more than the current job), but you have a strong suspicion that you will hate the job.

All other factors (commute time, coworkers, further promotion potential) being equal, which is more important? Liking your job or movin' on up the social ladder?

I'd rather move up. The only jobs I could not see myself enjoying are those at the lower end of the spectrum. The experience should be worth it in the end if you end up moving on.

At my age, 21, money and experience play more of a factor in my job choices. Barring any type of fatal accident, I should have plenty of time to find a job that I like after I've managed to live a little and enjoy some nice things.

Job that I like is more important to me than being in a job I make gobs of money in, have no life, and hate my job.

:music: Money it's a hit, Don't give me that do goody good bullsh!t. I'm in the hi-fidelity first class traveling set and I think I need a Lear jet. :music:

voted job that pays well

sure a job that you like is more important to your happiness but what if you have a wife, kids, hosue, cars, etc etc etc!! sure you can argue that if you are not happy at work you will bring that home with you and cause probs there but i can't begin to count how many fights i have seen and devorces over stupid financial arguments

In a perfect world it'd be a job you like but honestly you have got to get ahead while you can and start saving as much as you can for retirement so I say get the pay now and later in life you can find something you enjoy...
