Whats max acceptable Temp & Voltage for P3-700e?

I will usually test up to 1.85v for anything from 933 to 1GHz. If it takes more than that, I call "no joy". That's my preference and I don't want to sell them requiring more voltage than that. Up to that point, I've never had one go over 42c under load, while testing. Anywhere up to 45c should be fine. Get nervous over that. 🙂
 
I have mine running at 933 at 1.90 voltage.. Under full load it barely goes over 40c. Make sure that you do have good cooling if you are going that high..
Mine has been running perfect for about 1 month heavey usage..
 
i got alpha PEP66 w Fan. (its one big HS). but i am not too sure about the quality of thermal grease that i used. i bought it from Radio Shack. i have heard that Artic sliver produces much better results.

artic silver is kindahard to find in Canada i think, only a few good places carry it, but another good thermal paste supplier is Chemtronics. I use it on all my cpu applications.
 
I think voltage is a gamble above 1.85 also (not a good bet) I remember some articles on overclockers.com about P3`s cracking due to excessive temp changes (mostly from using peltiers) and what I mean by cracking is the die itself can crack (they had pic`s)... My temps range from 31C to 41C with room temp at 78-80F on a P3 700e @1000mhz 1.65 volts

I made a long reach thermosister using the Radio Shack thermosister and a 2 pin connector from an old AT power supply (the kind that came off one of the Molex connectors to go somewhere???) the wires were plenty long enough (also good to check the temp on a HD) Remember this has a PS thermal probe connector on the board (the JTPWR connector) all you need is a little heatshrink tubeing and a soldering iron (small) and the above items to make your own remote placement thermosister...
 
Bart, you've got an exceptional CPU to be doing 1GHz at default voltage. You should be proud. 😀
 
Thanks Compuwiz1 it has been the best I`ve had so far and makes me want to stay with Intel for now anyhow... BTW have you looked at the thread on ARS... they seem to accept you but as for me oh well phooey on`em but whats bad is the last few post silly X guy cant even do a simple name change now thats funny...

I got some 700E cC0's today and so far I've got a couple of em purring along on the test machines at 1GHz @ default voltage. One runs at 1085, which is the end of my FSB settings. :Q
 

P3-700e has a spec max junction temperature of 80C. This should be the max temperature (as measured by on die temperature diode) this CPU will function at 700MHz. There is really nothing wrong with running your CPU at this high temperature unless you are doing extreme overclocking. In that case, you will want lower temperature to have higher chances of overclocking success.
