What's Mardi Gras like in Acadiana?

I've been to Mardi Gras several times in New Orleans, but never in Acadiana.

I'm thinking about going to Lafayette for Mardi Gras this year. Any know what it's like?

Metarie has a good Mardi Gras, as does Biloxi. Pass Christian's is alright. Biloxi has the added bonus of Casinos with it.

I have a friend there and I'm interested in going to Cajun country. I've been to NOLA many times, so I'm looking for a change.

Sorry, I was just curious. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone planning a vacation to Lafayette.

Is the surrounding area interesting?

I have a lot of friends that go to Mamou, but I've never heard anything about Laffy-style Mardi Gras.

What Ive heard is Lafayette is much much more family friendly than N.O. at Mardi Gras. Never been though. I know that doesnt help any.
Baton Rouge is good for family style except one parade in Spanish Town and everyone still takes their kids. They just see alot of beer, drunk people, and a pair of boobs every now and then.
