I was curious if anyone knows any place I can look up how far you can park from say a neighbor's curb or a fire hydrant, mailbox ect... there has to be some law book somewhere that you can look this up.

I believe you can't park 10ft. from a hydrant, although I'm not positive, but it's a good guideline:)

wow 10 hehe Ive heard 8 and 5 ft from hydrant..
There is a nosy neighbor that is trying to get me in trouble and I got a hydrant in front of my house. When we have parties or friends over there is a need to utilize some of that area and I wanted to make sure if he wanted to call the police on my I wouldn't be ticketed.. Any cops out there that know the law or know where to look it up?

I know that the rule about how far from a curb is not enforced that much but is there an actual law of a certain distance you have to be away from a person's curb? Yea this guy is a prick.

Just park in front of the hydrant. The firemen love running those leaky hose through your broken out windows. My unkle was a fireman and he said they actually did this.

The distance varies from state to state, as the distance is set by state law. Call your local police station and they will be able to tell you what distance your state's statute proscribes.

It's a state law on the fire hydrant, just park your friends cars in front of his house. It's a public street he can't stop ya. In fact, if he's an ass about it I would make the point of parking in front of his house all the time.

BTW not a good idea to park in front of a hydrant, they will put the hoses through your car if there is a fire. Usuall process is breaking a window to gain entry and opening all the doors and draping the hoses through the car.

Distance is set by state and local law.

The fire hydrant distance is set by your state. Cities will cover the distance from the edge of the driveway. Call your police department. They will know (since they enforce it).

Generally, you must not park so you block entrance or egress from your neighbor's driveway. In San Diego, CA, the distance is set as 4 feet (so the curb number will show) but the ordinance is rarely enforced.

I'm surprised Santa has a problem with parking. Problem with reindeer droppings on your neighbor's lawn?

Coal for him this year I tell you very very black coal! hehe

<< It's a public street he can't stop ya >>

Thats something I was told and I really do think thats what im going to tell the moron but since he is a senior citizen I will break it to him nicely.

<< so the curb number will show >>

Since the number is on the other side of his driveway its not a concern

I'm in the lark doing 90 in the 25MPH zones, but I only go that fast when I'm racing REALacura type-Rs

I do know there is a limit on the distance from certain things and blocking the driveway, but packing infront of his house is prefectly legal.
