I typically keep at least a finger on something metallic (computer case, etc) when moving a cpu around and make sure I dont move my feet at all when working on computers. This weekend I will probably be upgrading my sig system to a 2500k+z68 and have to figure out how to keep the new kitten off my work area.

I have a habit of keeping all boxes and already tracked down my Q6600's retail box along with my motherboard box, the box for the cooler and the box for the memory so that when I ship all of them I will have their original boxes. I usually then use a combination of bubble wrap and packing peanuts (although I steer away from these due to obvious static issues).

This reminds me of the time in college when one of my friends came into my room while I was assembling a computer. While I had followed reasonable ESD procedure, he did not, and proceeded to reach out to my videocard. Before I could stop him, I heard the characteristic static zap. I still wonder if that was the reason the card was so unstable...

For RAM and CPUs I always use the plastic containers. You can ask anyone who bought RAM from me :p
