PC133 at either timing is faster than PC100 with CAS2. I've done some tests with my generic PC100 NCL ram which does PC133 222 perfectly and the results seem to indicate that.

Generally PC133 333 will outperform PC100 222. The extra bandwidth is way more significant than a little less latency - in most applications.

Seb is right on the nail here the extra bandwidth will come in handy,so definetly PC133.

My ram can run 222 any way, even though that it is rated at 333, perhaps you should try 133MHz and a CAS of 2-2-2

It depends on the bus speed of your processor. CAS2 PC-anything is faster than CAS3 PC-anything everytime. The PC100 and PC133 are only ratings saying that a stick of memeroy can handle teh throughput of 100MHz or 133MHz. It makes ZERO difference in terms of anything except total bandwidth. If you are running at 100MHz fsb, DEFINITELY go with the CAS2 PC100.

Yeah obviously if you're running at 100MHz then your PC133 ram is going to be no faster.

90% of motherbaords however support running the processor off a 100MHz bus and the memory off a (100MHz + 1/3 = 133MHz) bus.

Athlon can take advantage of the PC133 ram on a 100DDR bus since it has a peak bandwidth of 1.6GB/s of the BUS to the chipset

One more for cas3 pc133. I had some pc100 at 2,2,2 and it worked very good. It gave me excellent benches also (better than the p3 1 gig in sandra). Now I am using the virtual channel pc133 (3,3,2 by spd) set at 2,2,2 and it is even better. The difference is not huge, but is enough to spend a few extra dollars for the pc133 if your in the buying market. If you already have some pc100 working fine then you should be satisfied. If it's really good pc100 then try setting it at 133? You may not get 2,2,2 out of it but 3,2,2 might fly. Mine would not even at 3,3,3.

Just upgraded couple days ago from PC100 2-2-2, to PC133 3-3-3 (won't do 2-2-2).

Much better benchmarks w/ PC133 (2x128 Mushkin), but not very noticeable .. like upgrading to a cable modem or 10Krpm SCSI HDD.
