I have a system with 300 Watts power supply. Right now i have a integrated video card but i want to upgrade. The computer has PCIe interface. I have been researching online but most card requires more than 300 watts power supply. I do not want to upgrade my power supply so what is the best card i can get without having to upgrade the power supply.

I was thinking about the EVGA GeForce 6800XT PCIe for $80.00 on Newegg right now.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Please do not make your video card decision based on a refusal to pay $50 for a 450watt supply.

Whoa! $50 clams for a 450 watt power supply?!?!? Where can I get one of those? (not being sarcastic)

Anyways, what brand/model is your current power supply? Some power supplies have more amps on some rails than others so it depends on your power supply. Check the rails and check out how much power video cards consume.

Get the cheapest 7600GT you can find-- around $150.

It's between a 6800ultra and 7800gt in performance.

It is small.

It requires no external power, so you can use it with a low-watt PSU.

A 6800XT is actually slower than a 6600GT. It's just not going to run any new games at decent fps.

Most cards should work just fine as long as you don't have half a dozen hard drives or a dozen fans or anything out of the ordinary.

Fortron 450watt retail PS at Newegg - not the greatest, but definately OK for almost all single card video needs

Those units are a great choice for single card systems IMO.

I picked it at the advising of many others, and love the pick. I knew I was building a PC from the ground up, and so I would only have a single HD and optical drive, and so that PS should be fine for any single video card. It's only been three months, but my PC is 100% stable with an overclocked CPU and GPU, and the 120mm fan on the PS is an added plus.

Even better, upgrading to a 7900GT from my 7800GT will allow me to actually reduce my power neeeds more than likely.

I know i can upgrade the power supply and get much better cards but this computer is going to be used by someone who doesn't play all the latest games. The game he plays the most is diablo 2 and warcraft 3 and he doesn't care about settings at all.

What's the maximum budget here? That 6800XT would be perfect for those games, and I would go with that fortron source 450W PSU, as well.

There is no maximum budget. Its just that i do not want change the power supply if i don't have to.

The 7600GT is a very nice card with very low power requirements. My only words of caution is that it may commit suicide because it will feel unloved if you only push it with Diablo 2 and WC3 ;).

Can you open it up and quote the manufacturer & amperage rating on the 12 volt on that power supply?

I'm running an X1800XT on a '250 watt' Delta power supply. It also handled an X850XT PE (higher power reqs there, I'm pretty sure). Works great so long as I don't go insane with overclocking & overvolting. This same setup would have trouble on cheapie '500 watt' power supplies.

Sometimes it's not the quantity, but also the quality. Fortron Source makes the best power supplies until you get into the Seasonic, Zippy and PC Power & Cooling price ranges ($150-$300). Their 450 really is a 450, and not a 230 watt PS rated as a 450 because it can generate that much for a split second before bursting into flames when the room is below freezing.

That being said, 7900GT is probably your best bet for high end with the lowest power draw.

X1900XTX

and this PSU:

Enermax Liberty 500W PSU

That card require 450W power supply. I need the best card with 300W or less power requirement.

There's no reason why you can't change a PSU. The only reason you wouldnt be able to is if you have a Dell, but otherwise, it's no harder than putting a new video card in. And I can vouch for that FSP 450W someone posted, runs fine w/ my X1900XT- for only $50. :)
