What's involved in joining a mini team?

I've been cracking for 28 days and have biracial herd one of AMD(750 Athlon Classic) origin and one of Intel(600 Celeron II 9hrs/day). I need to know do you keep your individual account if you join a mini team and if you dont if a team member wins does he get the money(not that this is really important) or is it split or what? And who could use my 800 or so blocks a day?

Wetsprocket,
TWTA would love to have you join in the fun. :) Unfortunately, Distributed.Net has a limit on the number of emails that can be retired into another email, so if you want to keep your own, then TWTA wouldn't work. If that doesn't matter to you, then set your email addy to anandtechrc5@yahoo.com. :)

There is a FAQ on Mini-teams around here somewhere.

I hear you get a free Walker when you join TWTA :p

The MT to join at the moment is The Federation(ta-cannibalcows@ragingbull.com). We will be giving TWTA a friendly wave as we pass them in tonights stats run.

Join the Federation and see the galaxy.

If the whol thing about giving up your old stats to gain a new family [and bigger stats] hasn't discouraged you from TWTA, by al means please consider us. We have a new kick-arse webpage [i i must say so myself!] here and each member gets their own page to brag about their herd! [ps russ if you pop in here, you can change the link on your page to the new one, didja see i put a link to your site as well?] Plus we have a good race going on with the Feds right now, and we could sure use your help!

Another angle. Mini-teams are fun because the change the nature of the races by involving more people. Right now the federation has a higher average keyrate and is doing better on the dailies than TWTA. I think that it would be more fair and sporting to join TWTA. This way we can all have more fun for a longer period of time. If my math is adequate, The federation will edge out TWTA in two days. If you join the original mini-team (TWTA was the first wasn't it?). The race might be extended longer.

Heres a couple good links if your curious:

new twta page

current mika stats

d.net stats

Thanks for your interest in TA mini-teams.

Hey Ray! We need a few hypnotic suggestions over here.:Q

Damnit, Ray, I just woke up face down on the keyboard.:)

WetSprocket,

These mini teams are all very friendly, and kind of cute and cuddly. But, if you want to dominate, decimate and destroy all that lay before you...

I also have a K6-2 500 doing OGR, how will joining a mini team affect my OGR effort? Will I have to restart on another Email address or what(OGR)?

I feel like I'm leaning toward TWTA If I can get my question from above figured out. But I'm still up for grabs...

Edit I didnt see the update at the TWTA website how will not being able to retire my account to TWTA effect joining.

In order to contribute to TWTA you will have to have all of your RC5 machines crack under the id anandtechrc5@yahoo.com. I am new, so may be wrong here, but I don't think we are currently involved in OGR. If your K6 only does OGR then you can keep your current id with it or check into the OGR teams. I think Viztech had a OGR mini-team.

If you are interested in your personal stats and still want to check your individual stats, you will have to download and run a pproxy (personal proxy) from D.net. I will be doing this myself soon. Just have to get a few more boxes cracking first :D.

I am sure everybody will be happy with whatever you decide to do. We all ultimately do this for one team. Go TA!

Wetsprocket,
I haven't really discussed the matter of who gets the money with TWTA when I joined, mainly because I'm not in it for the money. At one point a long time ago, I thought that Team Anandtech's share would be donated to charity. :)

As for me, if one of my PCs finds the key, and I'm cracking for TWTA, I would put it to a TWTA member vote as to what we want to do with the money. I personally would vote to split it between all team members or donate it to a chosen charity. But then I am not in this contest for the money. :)

And yes, TWTA could use all the blocks we can get to stay ahead of The Federation, who are currently tailgating us and being quite annoying, as tailgaters can be. ;)

Also, read the posts here:
I want to join

If you are still not sure which mini-team to join. All would welcome you warmly, and we ALL are glad you are cracking for Team Anandtech, which is the MOST important thing of all! :D

You can also join [TA] teamzero. Dnet ID is teamzero@uti.com, and everybody in TA is welcome to submit blocks to the email address. :D And if you want I can post your name/herd on our stats page. We're VERY small at the moment, but slowly growing. :)

Ahem, last i saw, we are still 10k blocks ahead. why is all this waving going on? must be getting anxious or something. HA HA HA BUCK FUTTER! Sorry for the not being able to retire thing, that is dnet's bad and there isn't much we can do about it [we tried though]. We currently aren't doing ogr as a team, but if you run a split herd, you can point your rc5 cows to TWTA and keep your ogr cows in your current address. :)

SYST3M: If you havn't checked stats on Mika yet, then you will see. It is a poor poor sight. I think they were saving up for this one.

Oh well at least our stats on D.net show us outproducing them yesterday. Held em off for an additional day. Makes you wonder if they expected that.
