My "murse" is a fanny pack I carry around by the strap (looks only semi-gay) and holds my phone, two pair of glasses, a pocket knife, flash drive, my wallet and sometimes an iPod and shades. I used to have all that crap stuffed into pockets, but soon it became apparent that was just not going to work anymore.

I once had a prof who wore a fanny pack everywhere and everybody made fun of it behind his back. But the guy was pretty awesome despite looking like the worlds biggest nerd.

I must be too old. When did MEN start carrying bags around of any type? Men keep the shit they need when not at home in their pockets and any overflow in their vehicle. For the most part if it doesn't fit in your pocket you don't NEED it.

That I understand and a backpack works well in such a situation. I used to use a backpack when commuting to school on my motorcycle or when I had to carry something somewhere and wanted to take the bike. I guess I am just too old to understand men who feel the need to carry a bunch of crap with them everywhere. The only things I have ever needed were keys, money, and sunglasses...but those I usually use some kind of a tether device like a croakie. Yes, I now carry a cell phone but it is in my pocket. You will never get me to carry it on my belt. That is beyond annoying to me.

Personally, I agree with you 100%. No way I'd ever carry a man purse.

Phone, keys, and wallet go in pockets. Sunglasses go on face. No man needs to haul more than this around with him on a daily basis.

Probably 90% of the reason I hump my purse around is to carry my sunglasses: $350 sunglasses don't go around my neck or ontop of my head.

In the winter, I've got pockets depending on the coat I use.

In the summer though, it's a bit of an issue. Also, wallet in my ass pocket is uncomfortable and makes my ass sweat. Time to just use an elastic band and bunch my cards together.

My basic "goto" pouch for working on ladders, in tight areas, especially when live circuits are being worked on (waiting on my insulated strippers and needle nose):

When working in a panel I bring these along:

I used to have a netbook, but it was stolen along with the bag that had an external dvdrw drive, so my only portable devices are an old Samsung phone and a Sansa m240 Mp3 player.

Backpacking year was 2010 for me, lots around the TRT, Great Basin NP and other areas around Nevada.

To get through the massive queue's shopping, get a wind-up alarm clock, and put it in your backpack.

It's amazing how many people will let you go in front of them once they realise your backpack is ticking.

Wearing a fake beard and sandals also helps

I have a backpack this weekend. I'm carrying 200 rounds of .308. You purse wearing hipster douchebags make me sick! At least the ladies carry a little girly-gun in their purses.

I have 2 bags

one stored in the car - survival pack
http://www.amazon.com/Life-Gear-LGDLBPK01-Detachable-LifeEssentials/dp/B001B4DS62
to which I have added some hemp rope, paracord, small knife and survival knife, magnesium/flint stick, steelwool and 9 volt, vaseline and dryer lint.
Extra pair of scrubs

One I carry to work
Laptop or Ipad
Multitool
wireless access point
hemostats
Excedrin
copies of licences, certifications, DEA cert, other documents

surgical tape

Usually I am good with just pockets - leatherman pocket knife, wallet, keys, Iphone.
