I ask this b/c recently ive been thinking what exactly is important to me.

About 8 months ago I would have said my work as I was dedicated to my job and wanted nothing more than to succeed. After my recent break up with my g/f I seem to now realize that the high paying job the fancy car the nice house (all the things i was working toward) really don't matter in the grand sceam of things. I feel that now I just want to find a woman that is a good match for me and to settle down and have a life with them...

Some of my personal feelings:

There's no point in making a lot of money if you have no time to enjoy it.
Life is too short to spend 40-80 hours a week in a job you hate.
The things you own end up owning you.

With that said, I'll admit that money and toys are important, but they are not that important. I'd rather live a modest life doing something I like than dedicate my entire life to building wealth.

When you are old and on your deathbed reflecting on your life, do you actually think you are going to think "Gee, I should of worked more."? or "Gee, I should of bought a larger house". You will most likely think of family and friends, thus that'sthe most important thing.

#1 is family

but the family wants stuff and likes the house, so i guess #2 is job, even though my job satisfaction has plummetted in the past year

#3 is church i guess, then other stuff after that

Same on 1 & 2, I think 1 and 2 are the hardest to balance. I always ask myself the same question. Something to the effect of, When is it ok to sacrifice time with family, to work so that you can provide for them later?
