water.

unless its one of those fancy shmancy 100% all natural fresh sqeezed juices, since most juices are water, sugar and some flavour (along with some colouring) and only 5-12% actual juice.

Just make sure it doesn't have anything added to it, cause that's where all the unhealthy comes from.

Guys I was wondering, if tea was or wasn't good for you. For some reason I thought it was a "good" drink... hehe whatever that means. Healthy or soothing or something... but then I remembered that I thought I heard tea had caffeine in it... and caffeine is bad right?

Uh well really, juice is mostly water. Ollie: Tea from an actual tea plant does have caffeine in it, but whether it's "bad" isn't really established. While it is a drug, it has a very short half-life once in your system, and there are no serious side effects that we know of.

Even if it's 100% juice, it's still going to have lots of sugar (naturally occuring in fruit), which means water is probably better for ya. It doesn't hurt to have a couple glasses of juice a day, in fact that can be pretty good for you because of the things that are in certain fruit juices (grape juice has lots of flavonoids (sp?)), but you should drink pure water more than anything else.

Tea can be good for you too, I believe it is another source of flavonoids (flavonoids are what make wine good for you, except alcohol causes the brain to shrink...juices and tea don't do that), and there are plenty of teas that do not have caffeine.

1 cup of juice

4 cups of milk

and 6 - 8 cups of water a day

so if you are gonna drink 1 thing it should be water

The average cup of tea has more caffeine than your average cup of coffee. Since caffeine is a stimulant, it's bad for you in excess, but like most things is fine under moderation. In fact, I'm sure more than half the people in the US probably couldn't run without caffeine. ;)

BTW: I'd go with the water over juice if I had to pick only one.

Ahhh!! Caffiene is radioactive! We're all gonna die!! ;)

Anyway, water has 0 calories whereas juice has like ~30g sugar per cup. If one had to live off either water or juice, the juice would sustain the person longer, since it has nutritional value. But in our obese society, water would probably be better for most of us.

That has to be the stupidest analogy I've ever heard.

You need electrolytes too, your Ph can really get out of whack without em. The best thing, and we teach this to our SAR recruits, is 50% gatorade mixed with 50% water. Straight gatorade will actually take water away from your system in the beginning (osmosis), and straight water will take electrolytes away from your system in the same manner. When you sweat you lose water as well as electrolytes so you need to replace both of them.

But only Juice or Water?? I go with juice... its mostly water.
