Not much news lately, but its destined for multi socket and multicore Opterons. Imagine servers with 4 sockets, with 4x quad core CPU's....

Socket 1207 is LGA. Don't know why AMD would want to change to a LGA socket.

It's probably easier and cheaper then putting 1207 pins on a chip.
