I'm gonna tell her that I am moving back in with my parents next week, and that I had to sell my car. See if she still is so eager to visit me. I can act too. :D

Don't lie to her. If you want to meet, then meet her - just be careful, and let her know what you're worried about. If you think it's too dangerous, tell her that.

Don't make things more complicated than they have to be.

Whats the point? Please, don't give me the bullshittt... if she really likes me, she wouldn't care if I was a "loser".. if I didn't have stuff.. if I weren't succesful.. etc...

The odds are good, if she emailed you saying she lost her looks, you would jet like theres' no tomorrow..

These games do not make any sense to me... even with the limited amount of time that you interacted with her and you don't like her.. why don't you just break it off??????

I'll admit, I won't go after an ugly or fat chick...but she is not the only pretty face I know.

I don't think a lot of things make sense when you start involving emotions and feelings. If you're hoping for a clear-cut, easy to understand woman...pray you live to see the day we have android girls. Even then I bet there will be some kinda issues.

As for playing games...well...she's a gamer and so am I...so what can I say? Game on!

Well, as far as scamming you goes I don't know, but if you are interested in meeting her, then meet her, just watch your back. Maybe something meaningful will actually come from it.

LOL, god you lot are cynic's. Maybe she was a bar girl, probably wasn't her fault and she has now managed to more on. She maybe a very nice girl who has escaped her harsh youth. You did say you had a good connection.

My 2cents is met the girl, you have already invested a lot of time on this, you will regret it if you don't.

As some of the wiser people here said, take your time, you don't sound naive to me and she may just be the one for you.

I thank you for the level-headed response. :)

Ultimately it boils down to two choices for me:

a) Give her the benefit of the doubt, trust that she is sincere and meet her...obviously, keeping my guard up.

b) File her way into the stereotypical filipina scammer and cease all contact with her.

The second choice is just something looming in the back of my mind, I've always been leaning toward meeting her. She managed to get to the USA on her own, and I really respect her for that, because that is a very difficult feat to achieve, esp for a young woman. I think you're right about me regretting it, if I choose not to meet her.

Sign a prenuptual of course.

Some guys do this.

A couple of the Filipina women who work with me have said they know guys who charge the woman/family to get them citizenship as well as the women/families who find a guy to pay to get them their daughters/self citizenship.. I think I recall hearing $30k during a lunch conversation.

Hmm. Your story worries me because my e-GF is in the philippines. I've already sent her $, but she never asked for it. Her story did compel me though.

Her intention to gain citizenship is definately her motivation to come to the US and meet you. Her apparent honesty with you about her past is a positive sign if true. She's probably just an ambitious young lady trying to better her position in life.

As long as you don't loose sight of her intentions and are OK with it, I see no harm in meeting her. You never know you might really like her.

The one part of the story that sounds fishy is the part about quiting as a bar girl to work for a CC so she could come to see you:eek: That's troubling in a couple of ways

1. It sounds too tailor made. She first tells you she worked as a bar girl (she could sex you up, wink wink) And you were turned off by that. Then she does the 360 and says she's bettered herself and now has a legit job.(since you obviously didn't like bad girls)
2. Implies commitment, she's working to invest in coming to see you

I would be tempted to try and validate her story, like ask her at which call center she works and try and get intouch through the call center. And I would talk to her about her intentions of coming to the US, and perhaps try and ensure she has a round trip ticket:)

I should clarify the story a little with her bargirl thing. She did that actively when she was in her late teens. She never admitted to it until after I found out myself and asked her about it. I always suspected she was hiding something, and the way I found out was simply by making friends with people she calls her friends. They dropped hints here and there, and eventually I had enough pieces to put together a pretty detailed picture. Keep in mind that this happend back in 2005...and by the time I was talking with her, she was not really an active bargirl...though she would "freelance" on the side if given the opportunity.

When I met her she was going to school and working at Starbucks, she also did modeling on the side...so it wasn't like she suddenly dropped her bargirl "career" and switched to working at a call center overnight. It happened over the course of two years. One of the last things I said to her back in 2005 after we "broke up" is that the only way we'll ever meet is if she comes to see me. I never really expected to see her...even though I wanted to.

Anyway, I already do like her quite a bit. As for her intentions...if she wants to come here and stay with me, and that is her real reason, then I'm cool with that. Meeting someone in person is really the only way to get to know who they really are. The only thing I'd want to validate is her blood test results. :D

Oh vey. ;)

I'm telling you, no good can come of this. You're going to meet her, then there's going to be some sob story about her getting beaten by her ex boyfriend or something, and that she desperately wants to stay with you because she loves you blah blah blah. Either that, or she'll just rob you blind some night......
