I know this idea has been beaten to death, but it doesn't seem as though any changes are coming around. I know participation in the forums is voluntary, as well as being a moderator is voluntary. But it seems as though lately there is no consistency to the threads that are being locked. And when a thread is locked no reasoning is given. In the FAQ it mentions that a thread will be locked and not deleted to show an example to others as to what is permitted and not permitted. However, it's hard to figure out due to the number of seemingly innocent threads that are locked with no reason given, while others that due contain obviously offensive racial, sexual, etc. material are allowed to remain ("I hate Italians"? for example). Is there just one rogue mod out there having a bad holiday season? Would it be possible to get all of you together to agree on what is permitted or unacceptable? At the very least I'd like to suggest that each moderator go back to giving an informational reply to a thread when it has been locked, explaining why the thread is locked. In the long run I think this would be advantageous to everyone here, as hopefully posters will learn what is not permitted and the moderators will find fewer threads that need to be locked.
