What's going on with Norton and McAfee?

I have gotten virus updates on both systems at least once a day this week. On Tuesday and Thursday, I got 3 updates from Norton.

What gives? What is going around that requires that many definition updates?

maybe Norton and Mcafee are writing there own viruses so they can be the first to have anti virus definitions for it and sell more and make more $$$$$

New versions of the bugbear virus and probably a few others. I'd rather get regular updates than not wouldn't you ?

Yeah, new variants of bugbear are out there this week.

Particularly nasty variants, at that.

You don't have 2 antivirus programs on the same machine do you?

No, I don't have 2 antivirus programs on one machine. I support 20 users and have both programs running within the company (not by my choice, I prefer Norton).

FoBoT - New viri? I realize that. I just did not realize that so many new ones/variants had come out this week. I have never seen this much activity from the AV vendors.

Schadenfroh - Man, I couldn't agree more. Talk about a gimmick, but you swtill have to have it 🙁

I was wondering the same thing. It seems like for the past week or so, every time I sit down at my PC, I get a "LiveUpdate" warning from NAV...
