What's going on with my car?

I can never get a smooth engagement & disengagement of the gas pedal.

It's a 5 speed manual. Everytime i step on the gas, the car jerk and snap my neck off. Everytime i let go of the gas pedal, it jerks and snap my neck off.

It only seems to do it on 1st gear to 3rd gear. And also on how slow the car is traveling.

the slower the car travel, the more force the neck snapping is :(

does anyone have any experience with this that could tell me how to fix it?

does it happen when you're shifting, or just whenever?

The transition between acceleration and engine braking is...ah...rough on some (usually lighter) cars, when they start to get old. I don't really know what causes it, but I know what you're talking about.

Here's a fun trick. Find a pretty empty road. Cruise along at 30mph or so in second or third, you should be at a relatively high RPM. Now, if you tromp on the gas and then let up on it quickly, then keep your foot still, your car will start jerking back and forth (jerks back under acceleration, which causes your foot to lift off the gas, jerks forward under decceleration, which causes your foot to hit the gas...). It will get more and more violent until you lift your foot ALL the way off the gas, or hit the gas harder. See how long you can hold on! It's amazing how rough it gets.

Maybe its just more sensitive than your used to..

My sable is 20x more sensitive than a camry I sometimes drive.. Thankfully its not the other way around (Sable is my main car, so im used to sensitivity) or id be crushed in my seat in the camry.. This way i just accelerate mad slow untill i remember. :)

it happens when i don't even touch the clutch. It's just let go of the gas pedal and then let the car slow down. and then hit the gas, the car jerk and lunges forward. No clutch is involved. same thing with letting go of the gas pedal, the car jerk without me touching the clutch

it's not sensitive i know that for sure. it does it when i lightly hit the gas pedal & accelerate slowly.

it doesn't do it if i hit the gas pedal hard. Confused yet? so if i want to have the car drive smooth, i have to hit pedal to the metal.

but doing that, I'm speeding and wasting gas.

It was already in pretty bad shape. I was just so sick of always hurridly pushing the clutch down and taking it easy after the car started shaking, that when it started doing it one day I was like "FINE! You want to tear yourself to shreds, GO AHEAD AND DO IT you stupid car!"

Nothing to do with turbos. My NA did it.

it couldn't be caused by a bad blow off valve? or what about an engine mount or transmission mount?

How long have you had the car? Turbo's are known to kick in like that and maybe you just aren't used to it.

its when your boosting and let off quickly this will happen. you will get a jerk

i think getting an aftermarket/better quality bov will help this problem. also just try and smooth out from letting off the throttle. smooth out your driving some

It's a sensor or some small pipe that gets air, at least that's what it was in my car. I plugged a wrong tiny pipe, caused a jerky ride, sometimes very violent. Have you changed anything in your car? Maybe it just needs a good cleaning, some small tube could be clogged

One thing that can cause symptoms like this is broken motor mounts. You might have that checked out, or you can do it yourself. Open the hood and have someone press the gas pedal while it's in gear, watch to see if the engine lifts up excessively on one side, if it does, you have a broken motor mount. PUT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON FIRST THOUGH!!!!!!!!

EDIT:
it doesn't do it if i hit the gas pedal hard.
Oops, I didn't see that part. N/M ;)
