Whats going on here?

Picture to the right

Thats Scan Line Interleave, i figured it would need two AGP slots or two PCI slots so i wiki'd it and this came up.

Is that just the main components of a card stuck on top of a full card? To essentially make two cards, like nvidias dual-GPU line?

Right so, anyways, is that picture of two voodoo cards? Ones just designed for sli use only, hence its missing half of the other card and a pci interface?

Yes, essentially the 3Dfx card in that picture is like the modern 7900GX and 7950GX2 where two separate cards are essentially just joined together and use a single slot to attach to the motherboard.

Just what i wanted to know 🙂 thanks

exactally. SLI (the original concept) is not new. voodoo tried it out in 1998 and failed due to the high cost. nvidia managed to fix it with the bridge, but as you can see, they went back to the approach of just connecting two cards together. that's what voodoo did.

That X24 was an awesome card back then; I used to dream of having one of those. It costed around $600 if I remember correctly.
