A worker is recovering in the hospital after he fell several feet from a scaffolding connected to a truck, early Thursday morning.

The incident occurred at around 1:30 a.m. on an overpass near 167th Street and Collins Avenue. Officials said a crew was preparing to paint the overpass when the worker was lifted and the scaffolding hit an overhead powerline. The impact sent the worker flying into the air, and he fall about 15 to 20 feet onto Sunny Isles Beach Boulevard.
The voltage traveled through the truck and into the asphalt, causing the tires to catch fire and creating a hole in the roadway. "Electricity and powerline workers don't mix very well," said Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Captain Eric Baum.
A 7 News viewer witnessed a flash of light from his 31st floor apartment and rushed to the window to capture it on video.
Police arrived on scene and firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze.
Rescue crews transported the worker to Jackson Memorial Hospital in stable condition.

I saw a guy cut a 33 kv cable with a backhoe and it looked a lot like that. I think it zapped about 3 times before the circuit kicked. It burned a nice size hole in a 1/2 inch thick steel backhoe bucket. Needless to say it scared the shit out of the backhoe operator.

Line to ground. You ain't seen explosions till you see the transformers pop, one by one by one down the line from a storm. BZZZZ-blue-green-PLODE!-POP. 5 seconds later, rinse repeat up the line until they are all done.

I saw one get hit by lightning. I was about 50 feet away from it and just seconds before, I could feel all the hair on my arms and head stand on end. Then kaboom! Saw the strike and the explosion. Scared the crap out of me.

saw a transformer on a power pole blow after a lightning strike, it took about 20 minutes to blow, all that time it made an intense high frequency whine that sounded like it was continually getting louder til finally it exploded.

I was about 200 feet away. Everybody was watching a scary movie with their backs to the door except me. I saw the flash just that tiny bit sooner, so I had some expectation of the sound that was coming. KABOOM!
The rest of them all screamed like little girls:D
The TV got very bright, and never worked again.......
