Gonna go to UCLA for summer school, I need to find a 2 bedroom apt (me and a friend) within campus walking distance for summe and i need to know what is there to do for fun around ucla.

TIA. 🙂

If you have a car, 3rd St. Promenade (shopping and street attractions) is not too far ( I think).
Just drive straight down Santa Monica Blvd towards the smell of the ocean (west).

Westwood Village is always good for food and movie theaters.

MOVIE THEATERS MAN!! the best ones!

um..diddy reese cookies, relaxtation, roll-in (buck fifities for you alums), in-n-out, aahhhhhs, and more...westwood is fun when you're young.

if you are into it, summer usually means tons of japanese foriegn exchange students (chicks!!) head to rieber hall 😛

Car? Just catch a bus on Wilshire down there. Why goto Santa Monica Blvd. first?

Westwood Village (Bruin & Fox theaters, shopping, Diddy Reese, BJ's Pizza, etc.)
3rd Street Promenade / Santa Monica Pier (take the bus)

Hmm..that's all I can really think of that's "nearby"
Everything else kind of requires a car.

Umm... OK ... you're cool. I'm sure there's lots of girls in Virginia, but this is West LA - the mecca of hot women. Not to rain on your parade or anything, but women like those in your pics are a dime a dozen out here. Plus, we aren't stuck in Virginia. Please try to stay on the topic at hand and not shamelessly plug how great you perceive yourself to be.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand, unless you have large funds, I'd consider sharing a room. 2BR apts in the Westwood area go for >$1500. I would either look into sharing a room or going somewhere just outside of Westwood village. There's tons of apts. all over, especially in West LA and Brentwood. There is a very good bus system, Big Blue Bus, which has lines running all over the West LA area. Commuting to-from campus should not be a problem.

LA on the other hand is a miserable place w/o a car. I'd suggest getting access to one, as there is no limit to the cool things to do - they're just all very inconvenient to do w/o a car. You can go to the beaches (Zuma, Hermosa, Newport, PV coves, etc.), the palisades/canyons, Pasadena, Hollywood, Sunset Strip, Silverlake, Santa Monica, etc. Having a car really makes the LA experience. You maybe doing the Westwood, Promenade, SM beach thing every week (and missing out on a lot of cool stuff) if you're stuck being a pedestrian.

You're just bitter you've never been to Virginia Beach or Ocean City. I'll take the East Coast any day over the West Coast!

Sorry, never heard of those places 🙂

Even IF (a big if) the women are hotter, I still would rather be in West LA.

edit: Let's not turn this into a "who's got hotter women" thread. My reaction was to his pathetic attempt to build himself and/or his school up. The thread was about: "What's fun to do around UCLA? What about housing?" Which has NOTHING to do with Virginia, Virginia Tech or their many hot women.
