Whats Faster?

I doubt either one is using anything more than the PCI-based design. Is anyone using network cards designed on a higher-bandwidth backplane for mobo technology? I haven't looked, but I am not sure anyone is making a PCI Express x16 network interface. If the embedded one is working, go with it. I've been using the embedded ones for years with no problems (both using onboard 3Com and Realtek chipsets).

Speeds are about the same. They key difference is CPU overhead. And to Ghost Doggy. Most new onboard LAN designs are piped through a PCI-E 1x lane.
