Whats faster?

I googled this for ages and found absolutely no comparisons of the P3-S and an athlon XP of any speed. Apparently it beats the hell out of the thunderbird athlons but how well does it compare to the XP? I would assume the XP would be faster but by how much?
 
Probably if its cloaked faster it will be faster. The IPC of both of them should be roughly similar, if u go by the fact that the ipc of dothan and a64 is similar also.
I have no idea at what speeds the athlon xp's came in.

Yes that was all i could find myself earlier. I guess noone was too bothered when the 1.4 came out because more interesting things were happening in p4/athlon land.

I was thinking on getting a better duallie system, i got one of those P3 1.4-S's for real cheap but i was also thinking about modding a couple of XP's.

I think it might have been that P3 1.4 cost a bit more than cheapest XP which happened to be slightly faster? But that's just a wild guess.

Also check out this review: Athlon XP - Nov 5, 2001

XP1500+ (slowest XP) is often between P4 1.7 and 1.8 in general apps and in games even beats 1.9 and 2.0ghz. So I am not sure if PIII 1.4 would ever have been a contender.

Yea, looks like it wouldve been mauled. Think i might just go with a couple of XP's then, i can ebay my 1.4S as ive seen them go for twice what i paid for it.
