The A64 2800+ is only faster by a hair. Unless you intend to overclock, stick with what you've got.

The S754 Sempr0n 3100+ is a very good choice if you're considering the A64 2800+; they perform within 5% of each other, but the Sempr0n is considerably cheaper. They will be available within a week or so AFAIK.

its true that the athlon 64 2800+ is only faster by a hair in general, but its got far more longevity then the xp as 64-bit will be the future. then you will be able to find mroe significant improvements.
