Do we still need these cleaners?

I still can't believe that ATI or Nvidia uninstall doesn't completely uninstall the drivers.

I blame those pesky .dll files. Nothing but safe mode and using driver cleaner etc for me.

I agree, a cleaning program is still reccomended. I still use driver cleaner pro but I plan to give driver sweeper a try once new drivers for the 8800 GT come out.

hmm looks like new driver's for Vista 64 bit came out last week so I will give driver sweeper a try tonight.

driver sweeper works fine. Some people don't use it, I always do every new driver install. It's only an extra 30seconds or so to startup in safe mode after uninstalling the drivers using ATI or Nvidia's uninstaller and running the small application to clean the stuff it missed.

yep exactly what I do but with an out of date driver cleaner pro. I'll see what an up to date driver sweeper will do for me.

You would think that, but I've actually had issues when switching between a 7-series and 8-series card that Driver Sweeper cleared right up.

Spot on. Thanks for that.
