I'll be going in to work today or tomorrow, then back to work on Monday - we're now into one of the long periods without any company holidays. The next day off is in May.
Saturday and Sunday seem to be the only days when I can really get anything done on my own projects at work. The engineering department is too busy handling all the technical production issues that come up, because in the last 5 years, our company has gone from having maybe 12+ people with good technical skills and a good work ethic down to 4. Of that group, 1 is often tied up doing his manager stuff, and another is usually stuck doing low-level CAD work. So we've really got only 2 full-time technical people: the engineers.

There was a quote here a couple years ago that was roughly "We know we have truly put race behind us as a nation when we treat MLK Day with the same disregard we do all the other national holidays. This year I received a spam email from Marriott advertizing "Make the most of your MLK break with a Marriott get away!" so we can check off that box on our national to-do list.

I'm working today. Maybe hiking tomorrow if the rain holds off.

today, watching the first 2 episodes of "The Firm". also, deciding what goodies i'll be baking either tomorrow or Monday....and what meals i'll be cooking this upcoming week.

if it doesn't rain Monday, my guy & i will do a walking tour of one of the historic districts here in the city. :awe:

and oh yeah, hopefully writing post (with PICS!) about the National Civil Rights Museum (where MLK was assassinated) too.

What the hell is a 'MLK' and why the hell would anyone consider it to be worthy of it's own holiday ?

Because Martin Luther King changed our nation for the better without the violence that usually comes about when a repressed minority has taken all it is willing to stand.

Going to work. MLK Day isn't a real holiday.

It most certainly is. The man was a great dude. People were pissed enough to rise up and kill him.

No employer gives every holiday off.

When you change the world or win a Nobel Prize, then you can throw those kind of stones. Based on most of your posts, you aren't packing much in that department.

WTF is wrong with ATOT?
