What's equivalent to a GeForce 3 TI?

Okay, I have a GeForce 3 128mb which has worked okay for me (though I need to upgrade) but I can't do simultaneous TV/VGA out. I'm thinking about getting the equivalent GeForce 4 so I can do it before I really upgrade my card, but I have no idea what model GF4 is equivalent to my card. Any help?

P.S. Is there a utility that can tell me more about my card, like the model and all that? I can't remember what it is and I can't find the packaging

Your card will mop the floor against a Geforce 4 440mx, yet your card is noticeably slower than a Geforce Ti4200. (Although a Geforce 3 Ti500 is relatively close in performance to a Ti4200, only 10-15% slower) I guess if you want the closest equivalent, it may be more along the lines of a Radeon 8500LE.

Now the 8500LE can do simultaneous TV/VGA output, right? I'm really hoping to do either the same desktop on two monitors, or even better two different desktops at once with it. Either way, I just need something to copy movies with. :p

Radeon 8500 would be your best bet, and it can do dual monitors the way you need it to.

Dope, thanks for the help!

EDIT: Okay, I'm a dumbass, it's a 64meg. I was looking at the system memory it allocated in PCI mode. D'oh. Still equivalent to a 8500LE?

EDIT x2: Did you mean a GeForce MX 440? I don't think there were MX 460s. Can't find any at least.

Yeah, there were MX460's, and those are the ones he's talking about. The 440's are considerably slower (and thus, cheaper).

If you want to do dual output then I'd get a GeForce4 Ti4200 (faster) or Radeon 8500 (a bit slower).

Wait.... you are saying there is an MX that is actually faster than a classic TNT?

Couple of caveats
*Make sure that if you go with a ti4x00 that it has a macrovision approved TV chip.
*Make sure if you go with 8500(le) that it has the optional external secondary RAMDAC so you can use Theater Mode or 2 analog monitors.

I'd still go for the 8500 LE - there's no reason not to as they cost very little and might cause your performance to rise a bit. And yes, there were MX 460s. Check Nvidia.com

No, I meant a 460. Note that I'm not recommending this card though, I'm just answering your question as to what GF4 has equivalent performance to your Ti200.

Personally I'd recommend a 8500/9100 as you'll get an upgrade over your current card.
