What's equivalent to 300a@450 today?

I caught onto the 300a @ 450 early on. It was my first real oc. I'd like to get something that has a high probability of oc and great returns. Bang for buck, if you will. In my possession I have a used 600e and it's not posting at all. I'm gonna take it over to a friend's house later.
Assuming the chip is faulty, what should my next chip be?

What's your next chip? Weell, since you're already on the Intel platform, get a 700E and get it to 933Mhz (hopefully).

If you really want a nice overclock, go get a new MB and a Duron 700 or 750Mhz.

Dood, I can't get another mobo...I have an asus p3v4x and I don't feel like parting with it. I was hoping to take the 600e to 900...guess not since the chip's not being very friendly right now.
933 looks good. 1050 looks even better. Hmm...

Nothing wrong with the c2-633 at 950mHz. It will still be like a p!!!750e in games. It will crack RC5 like a p!!!950e.

Truth is, the lower multiplier chips have a better chance of making the jump to 133FSB. The current p3e core apparently is maxed out at about 950Mhz, give or take. The closer you get to that figure, the lower the chance of success. Apparently, the newer cbo stepping of the 700e will often hit 933Mhz.

All I know for sure is that my retail boxed p3e550 hit 733 like ringing a bell, and runs stable at 787. I prefer the retail boxed chips, I have more confidence that they haven't been picked over...For my money, the 550e is the successor to the 300a.

Definitely the 700E cB0 @ 933 deal. Although there are a lot more obstacles to consider with it than the 300A @ 450. I'm one of the many that got the BH6/300A combo, and the good ol' BH6 is running my 700E at 933 fine. Although I have to disabled SBA for my TnT2U to work, and I have to use SoftFSB to switch to 868 whenever I want to burn a CD (cause my SCSI can only handle 41Mhz), but it's a good deal.

Pliotron,

Don't ya just love these old BH6s! Two and a half year old board, running almost 1GHz, with a $180 700 MHz processor and cheap PC100. Can't beat it for the money.

I'll add my recommendation for the 700e cB0 FC-PGA at 933. Just make sure that your board supports (officially or unofficially) a 1/4 PCI/FSB divider when running at 133MHz, and you should be all set.

Nack

P3 650e cb0 @ 880 1.8 runs better than any Celermine there is...and Stable too...why you guys counting out the 650e? heck it overclocks as good as 700e...

650's seem rare. I hardly see them sold anywhere. Maybe they're being phased out. Anyways, I'm pretty set on a 700.
Of the stores listed here Link which one should I get it from? Onvia's been mentioned a few times w/pretty good results oc'ing.
