What's Different

I am running a PLP setup using a Dell U2011 and two U2007FP monitors. I was using a DVI cable on the U3011 and two mini DP to DVI cable on the 2007FP monitors. All drivers after the Omega driver one of the mini DP ports would be disabled. I could swap them in CCC, but never run both at the same time.

Last night I swapped the DVI cable on the 3011 to the 2007 and hooked up the 3011 up to the DP cable. All three monitors work in that configuration.

Has something changed that will not let me run two DP to DVI cables and a DViD at the same time? It will let me run a DP and a mini DP and a DViD at the same time.

Wait, at some point were you able to get all three monitors working without an active displayport adapter?

Maybe one of your "mini DP to DVI cables" is actually an adapter? Or maybe it was working but with a super-low resolution, so when you redid the driver it used the native resolution that won't work without the active displayport adapter?

The first two connections can be any combination of hdmi, dvi, or DP ( the connector type at monitor side is what the actual protocol is used unless using an active DP adapter which makes a DVI monitor look like a DP monitor to videocard) . Third connection and so on has to be DP.

Resolution was always native. 2560x1600 and 1200x1600. The cables I was using was cheap Monoprice cables, so I doubt they had anything built in.

I can see what happened if it is the monitor side connection, and not what's physically in the card.

My 3011 has a borked display port that has sleep issues. Now I have to use a screen saver with this configuration. I guess I will need to pick up an active adapter. But I think I will wait until next month when I get a new card. I am not see much in the Fury X or other lines that are coming with mini DP ports now.

It's odd that drivers did not catch this until this year.

I'm assuming you're using a 7970 or similar which have that limitation. 290s shouldn't have the two dvi limitation.

Just an update. I was getting an over voltage error at times on reboot. Ever since switching these out, that error has gone away too.
