I know p43.4e is socket 478 and p4 550 is socket 775. But which one is better generally?
I am thinking to buy either one of them now, but a little bit confused here.
Experts, give me some comments!

They will perform the same. They are both Prescott cores. An S775 board will last you a bit longer into the future for upgrading purposes.

S775 is a whole new deal with the pins in the socket on the board, and just pads on the chip.

They're both the same in terms of performance if you're looking to buy a CPU for applications that are really optimized for Intel.
