What's considered to be a reasonable delay in a USPS Parcel Post shipment?

Starting to worry an item i ordered on Ebay may not make it here...

Purchased on the 4th... Seller claims he shipped on the 6th from AZ -> FL via USPS Parcel Post.

USPS.com shows 8 days in transit (USPS delivers everyday except Sun), by my calculations expected arrival was last thursday...

I understand during the holidays things can be slow, but is a 4+ day delay common? Should i be worried at this point?

I wouldn't be worried yet

USPS lists all ground shipments other than Priority as 2-9 days
add in the fact that it is the busiest time of the year

4+ days isn't that bad

I know someone who has been waiting 3 weeks for a priority mail package. Apparently the post office lost his package.

I bought something off at and it was shipped out on monday before 5 pm using express. The clerk marked on the package it was due to be delivered yesterday at 3 pm.

It arrived today at 5:30 pm.

I'm asking the seller to get a shipping refund and split the difference. the shipping was nearly 20.00 for this item and it was over 24 hours late. For a company that relies on shipping things, they cannot afford to be late for express and overnight things that we pay them to ship. Busiest time of the year or not, its their business to be on time and they failed. :(

Back when I was in the Navy, my mother sent me a christmas package that I never received. I was home on leave 6 months later and the package was "returned to sender" on my birthday. Parcel Post is awesome!

What was so crucial about getting it 24 hours earlier?

Well, using first class wouldnt guarantee it here on time. Neither would parcel post. So i paid extra to get it here in a specified time which it did not make.

I paid for a service to get it here in a specific timeframe. It did not make that timeframe, therefore, I am entitled to a refund.

Well im glad i took out Insurance... Its been almost 3 weeks since i paid for the item :(

I just contacted the seller. If he indeed files a claim since i paid for insurance, he is obliged to refund my money and wait for the claim check himself, correct?

Tis be the Holidays, maybe he is away. It once took 17 days for a M.O that I sent from Rochester NY to Seattle via Priority to arrive. Be patient Grasshopper. :)

Possibly automated, but he seems to still be listing products and leaving feedback....

He was also a bonded seller, found this on Buysafe

To qualify for protection, a Winning Buyer must notify buySAFE by completing the Report a Problem Transaction Form in the Service Center on the buySAFE Web site within 30 days after the close of a bonded transaction. This notification initiates online dispute resolution. (This notification may not apply if you reside in a state which does not permit mandating the use of alternative dispute resolution.)

I have until Jan 4th to file a claim... I give him until Monday to respond, then i guess i file a claim with buySafe, Paypal, and eBay...
