What's coming up for 2009?

The only solid info is that whatever is coming will be manufactured on TSMC's 40nm process, which should be ready by the end of 1H 2009.

Beyond that it is just blind speculation. Some people rumored 2000SP for "RV870" but I can't see that being the case because it would leave little room to improve on 40nm, with 28nm likely not being viable for production until 2011.

Over at fudzilla they are saying that nvidia is looking at making another dual gpu and like extelleron said they are going 40nm in 2009. The article said they didn't have anything out of ati yet.

I believe both the Inq and Fudzilla claim nVidia will have 55nm shrink of GTX260 and a GTX260 X2 near end of the year or early 2009.

Other than that, we'll be waiting for what AMD and nVidia have to offer with their 40nm process shrink in late Q1 or Q2 2009. Going one (AMD) to 1 1/2 (nVidia) nodes down in size should offer both companies a lot of opportunity to improve performance, cost, and power.

There is also speculation that both companies will offer even more efficient/integrated X2 GPU cards, delivering better SLI/CrossFire in a card performance scaling.

Seems like we have all been reading the same rumors and projections.
