The power to weight ratio argument for rotary is bogus. That engine with all it's accessories is actually quite heavy. An RX7 is lighter and better balanced with a LS1 V8.

Out of curiosity, where did you get this information?

1993 touring modle 5-speed

Before

LF 729 RF 695
LR 705 RR 692

Total--2821lbs

After swap 1999 ls1/t56 trans ac and power steering

LF 748 RF 717
LR 683 RR 700

Total weight 2848lbs

Weight gain only 27lbs

Battery still mounted up front. Most people relocated to the back.

That's awesome. Looks like a lot of work though. Maybe if you could convince one of those guys who already did it to sell his.

I think it would be cool to do that to an e39 BMW or an old Porsche 928. I know some of you would think its just sacrilege, but you'd gain a ton of power and get cheap replacement parts in a great German car.

How about a BMW 2002, for 9k you could buy a pristine example.

Simple, reliable, quick, it has those and the bonus that you won't ever loose a dime in the value of the car as long as you don't stack it up.
