whats causing my boot delay

lozina

Lifer
I have a Inspiron 8600 laptop with Windows XP Pro installed and I have this annyoing boot delay problem. When windows starts up a few programs appear in the task bar then loading seems to halt. After a little over a solid minute (which really feels like an eternity) the rest of the apps finally load. The biggest annoyance is that my wireless networking gets started after this boot delay.

How would I go about discovering what is causing the delay?

I can open Task Manager during this delay but I see nothing taking up CPU during this time.

I can also do just about anything else during this time that does nto require internet connection, albeit they will run sluggish until this boot delay ends

Go to start>run and type msconfig.exe When msconfig launches click on the "startup" tab and uncheck all programs you don't want running at start up. Apply>reboot. You'll be surprised how much garbage runs at startup that won't show up in the Task Manager. Hope this helps.
