Venice has an improved memory controller. Winchester uses slightly less power (and therefore produces slightly less heat). Venice is a better overclocker.
Given the choice, I don't see much compelling reason to buy Winchester.
I would go with venice. As said, venice has the better memory controller. With Winchester, using more than 2 sticks of ram forces you to DDR 333, and 2T timings. With Venice it can still run at DDR400.
san diego is basically venice with a bigger cache. i would stick with venice, because of the aforementioned memory controller, and higher overclock potentials.
