Topic saids it all!

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Winchester

or

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Venice

I just want to know the overall ratings. Maybe someone can list which one is best from best to not the best.

Venice has an improved memory controller. Winchester uses slightly less power (and therefore produces slightly less heat). Venice is a better overclocker.

Given the choice, I don't see much compelling reason to buy Winchester.

I would go with venice. As said, venice has the better memory controller. With Winchester, using more than 2 sticks of ram forces you to DDR 333, and 2T timings. With Venice it can still run at DDR400.

hey i was poking around at athlon 64s and there was a san diego core as well.
Know anything about that? Venice is defintley more popular.

san diego is basically venice with a bigger cache. i would stick with venice, because of the aforementioned memory controller, and higher overclock potentials.

Venice is better. But if you have a Winchester already, I wouldn't bother upgrading just to go to a Venice core.
