My father has sworn by Eudora since I first started using the computer years and years ago. He still uses it and loves it. I've tried thunderbird and I've tried Opera's Email client and I like Opera's better than Thunderbird. It's all in what you want. There's nothing you can do better than trying them out for yourselves. Thunderbird and Opera are completely free. No clue about eudora.

after using Eudora for a very long time i switched to Thunderbird.
The Eudora client is very dated and not nearly as flexible as Thunderbird or Outlook.

What version of Eudora is very dated and not nearly as flexible? Granted, it can't touch Outlook... but I've been using Thunderbird for about a year, and I've been tempted to switch to Eudora a couple of times.

I have to use Outlook at the moment, and I'd love to switch to Thunderbird (but obviously can't - Exchange Server).
Eudora and Thunderbird are mostly equal in what they can and cannot do, but I feel Thunderbird is more integrated. Eudora, however, strips out all the attachment into a separate folder, which can be useful.
Best to try them out, as Mango said.
