What's better? S-Video or Component Video

I want to get either the Advanced AV Pack or the HD Pack for my xbox. Which one is better? My HDTV has both component video and S-video inputs and I don't know which one to get.

What are we referring to here? Composite = red/yellow/white. Coaxial = single black cable. Am i incorrect?

Right...well the yellow is the only one carrying the video signal. I was under the impression that a good grade RG6 coax will yiled a better signal than your standard composite connection...

For a HDTV, both are practically irrellevant (sp?) anyhow.

Hmm see I thought composite was > because it splits the signal and everything is not carried over a single cable... interesting. Im not sure now. But yes, irrelevant for HD.

Fiber transmitters and recievers.
Things a broadcaster would use to send a signal (Composite video and audio) over a long distance.
Like from building to building


BTW "coaxial" is a type of cable, not a signal type.
Component and composite signals travel on coaxial cable......
I believe you mean modulated video and audio, Like CH3 out of a VCR

Component is bette rthen S Video. There is less bleed and interference on a Composite line.

Insane3d- not by a long shot. Coax is about the worst offering for components.

for me there is a noticeable difference between s video and component. S video has more bleed and doesn't look as crisp as component on my 36' sony wega. I went with the hd pack for my xbox and haven't looked back since.

In case you really don't know, Coax is just the standard cable TV cable that you can use to carry the video and the audio to the TV from the VCR. It's the simplest installation since it's just one cable. That's why it's rated lowest because it carries everything at once.

Component, S-Video, and composite connections all use 75-ohm-terminated coaxial cables.
