whats better Nvidia RAID or Silicon Image on Asus K8N-E

Just bought a couple of SATA drives. Never had any before.

So which of the controllers is best?

The nVidia would be best in theory, because it's native to the southbridge rather than being a tacked-on PCI-based device. That leaves more PCI bandwidth for the rest of your PCI stuff and should allow higher burst transfer rates (not that it's likely to matter, except to make real big bars in newbie benchmark suites like SiSoft Sandra :evil: ).

k. thx. Is there anything I should know about before I get started? I had heard something about Windows installs being a pain with the Nvidia RAID. Is that true?

cant do it from anything else? Flash drive? etc. I dont even think I own a working floppy

Normally you can't. You could try slipstreaming the SATA drivers on your XP installation CD, or make a "USB floppy" ie: A: for USB memory drive.

can I install the Raid drivers and drives in my current installation, and then Ghost it to the new drives?
